I have time on my hands

I just finished an essay this morning so I'm feeling entitled to do nothing. That never ends well. But, it has led me to write again.

About two weekends ago I went on a trip with the new church I've found. They were taking an international trip to the Scottish Borders (if you hadn't guessed, the land right on the border of England, but still in Scotland).

This area was where Walter Scott spent some of his youth as he recovered from Polio (?...). The tower is a home that had been in his family, but is not where he stayed while recovering. The view, which is slightly foggy, is called "Scott's View."

A very cool story about Scott's View: During Sir Walter Scott's funeral, they were processing down this country road and Scott's horse stopped at this site because it was so used to stopping there with Scott. That's how the sight got its name.

The last pictures are ruins of a monastery.

Lindisfarne

Some time in August, just a few days or weeks before I left for Scotland, I got an email that contained this image

My first thought, of course, was "That looks like Scotland." I immediately set off on finding out where this was (cause I had nothing better to do).

After a short amount of research, I found out it was a place called  Lindisfarne on The Holy Island, off the north eastern coast of England. Only two hours from Edinburgh! What are the chances.

I finally succeeded - with much of Alban's help - in seeing this place for myself.

I won't bore you with all the history. You can come see me to learn that :) But here are some pictures. You know me - firm believer that the pictures are the best part anyway.

"15. Run down the scottish hillside a la "Sound of Music""

Another one bites the dust!

Looking for feedback

Being the decisive person I am, I just CAN'T decide on a background for this blog. I feel like the current one doesn't really scream Scotland. But I wasn't a fan of the patchwork in the last one either. I've been trying to use my own photos, but they end up in the quilt style - as seen before. I would love feedback on this matter. I may have to return to the utterly depressing, but quite accurate rain shot from before. If you can figure out how to comment (I don't even know that I know how to) please do add your feedback!
